Grow Carrots In Pot

Pot Selection

You can cultivate carrots in any types of pot, but you have to know that the pot should be deep enough to grow carrots. Short and thick verities of carrot should be select for grow in pot.

Your pot should be at least 12 inches deep and make holes in the bottom for proper drainage system.

Soil Mix

Carrots can be cultivate all types of soil but sandy loam soil is best for carrots cultivation. For proper growth of carrots the soil needs to be loose so we will mix 1 part soil, 1 part compost and 1 part cocopeat. Now mix the ingredients well and fill the pot then seeds or seedlings plant in soil and give some water.

Care

Carrots seedling should be water regularly in pot. No need much sunlight for carrots so you can keep place where it will get sunlight for 1-2 hours, there will be no problem.

Once in every 2 weeks should be fertilize the pot. For organic gardener, tea leaf is very useful for this. If you want use organic fertilizer however you should maintain number of NPK 10-10-10. Because extra use of nitrogen increase some diseases.

Disease Management

Leaf Curl, Aphid, Black Root are commo diseases of carrots. For good results use organic pesticide. However, excessive use of nitrogen causes for viral diseases.\

Carrots can be harvest in 90-110 days after planting.
