Chili Leaf Curl Virus Diseases

Leaf Curl is a very deadly virus for chili plant. If the leaves curl up like a boat, it is virus, and if it is curl down, it is attack by spider.

Symptoms of leaf curl virus attack

1. The affected leaf curls upwards like a boat. White winged yellow body flies (Whiteflies) can be seen down the leaves.
2. Old leaves become hard and brittle.
3. The veins of the leaves turn light yellow.
4. Decreases tree growth.
5. Look like a thrips attack.
6. Production decrease and uneven.
7. The leaves are small and clusters.
8. The trees grow extra stalks like bush.

Source of the virus

The virus does not usually spread from seed. This virus in called Begomovirus. It is spread by from whiteflies, thrips, infected seedlings and weeds. The whiteflies are usually on underside of the leaf, they are 1.5 mm long with waxy body and light yellow wings. It also spread for a lot of reasons. Since it is a virus so it can be transmitted as a common virus, such as rain, water, and any tree from nursery.

Cure

There is no cure for this virus. Infected plants should be unrooted or burn as soon as possible.

Biological Resistance

Spray neem oil every 10-15 intervals after planting. Mix 1-2 teaspoons of neem oil and 1-2 teaspoons of dish wash in every liter of water and spray.

Chemical Resistance

Many beneficial insects harmed by chemical control methods so try to follow the biological method. For Chemical control sprinkle Dinotefuran or Imidachloropid on lands. However, there is no effective prevention or cure against this virus.

Symptoms Of Spider Mites

1. Yellow Spider infected leaves curl downwards.
2. Red Spider infected leaves curl downwards and weave white web under the leaves.

Biological Resistance

1. If infestation is less then 1-2 teaspoons of neem oil and 1-2 teaspoons dish wash mix in 1 liter water and should be spray every 10 days. If the infestation is more then neem oil and dish wash level should be increase.
2. Soak 5 grams tobacco leaves in 100 ml of water for 12 hours and mix it with one liter of water and spray daily.

Chemical Resistance

1. 2 grams 60% Sulfur in 1 liter of water should be mix and spray for 2-5 days.
2. Dimethoate (Tafgar 40 EC)

Prevention Management

1. Make seedlings from virus resistance and healthy seeds and collect seed only form healthy plants.
2. Observe the land regularly.
3. Don't plant diseased seedlings.
4. Use yellow traps to prevent whiteflies.
5. Burn infected plants or bury them in the ground.
6. You should be covered seedlings with mosquito net or net.
